Learning to play a woodwind instrument is an extremely rewarding and beneficial experience both phsically and mentally.

Here at Cranes you can learn to play saxophone - one of the coolest and most wonderful sounding instruments out there. This iconic instrument is synonymous with some of the greatest songs and solos ever heard from Jazz legends such as Charlie Parker to the instantly recognisable Baker Street. No matter what your influences might be, we will help get you there.

We also offer Clarinet lessons, a beautiful sounding instrument and one that is very popular indeed! Clarinet is such a versatile and social instrument, one that is used in so many musical genres making it a fantastic instrument to learn and play so that you can join orchestras, jazz bands and play with fellow musicians.

All are welome to come and learn, children, adults, beginners, advance - whatever your age and ability, we have an experienced, qualified & understanding teacher that is passionate in helping guide you in your musical journey, wherever you’d like it to take you.

Every pupil is different in their aspirations, the music they’d like to play, whether they would like to take formal exams or learn just for fun. All our lessons are tailored to suit the individual student to reach their goals – however most importantly, to have fun and enjoy playing music. With some dedication and practice, the musical world is your oyster.

Graded Exams

Taking exams are not for everyone, however they do offer a great benchmark on your learning progress and give you a tremendous sense of achievement and pride once you’ve passed! We can teach and guide you through all that is required to take and pass exams confidently.

Lou began her musical journey more than thirty years ago. Starting the clarinet at just eight years old. This sparked a love and enthusiasm for music of all kinds and a bedroom stocked with every instrument from clarinets and saxophones - to keyboards, french horns, trumpets, guitars, and more!

Lou has a BA in music and drama, an MA in music performance as well as a PGCE with teaching experience across the performing arts subjects in classroom and peripatetic settings.

Most at home when enthusing students about the possibilities of sounds and genres, she teaches saxophone, clarinet and voice to students of all ages and abilities.
